Our History

Our story begins in a very long line…

If you went to college or entered the working world before the year 2000, you know what it was like to stand in line at a copy shop waiting to print a presentation. We’ll summarize for you youngsters out there, it was a huge pain that we all dreaded. Mimeo’s founders recognized this problem and came up with a solution.

In 1998, they created one of the first cloud-based printing services, disrupting the printing industry. No more standing in line at your local copy shop. Mimeo allowed customers to digitally send documents from anywhere to be printed and then delivered. Customers could view their documents online to ensure accuracy and print with 100% confidence that the presentation would arrive in the right place at the right time.

Mimeo Business, Mimeo Photos, and Mimeo Schools have since grown into a diverse global organization, but it all stems from that one bright idea in 1998.

    EasyCopy.com is incorporated.

    Mimeo Is Born
    1999 -Mimeo changes its name from Easycopy.com to Mimeo.com. Mimeo.com registers its first graphical logo with the U.S. Patent & Trademark office

    2000 First of several financing rounds totalling more than $100 million from investors including: Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Gotham Ventures, HarbourVest, HP, and Goldman Sachs.

    Next Day Delivery
    Mimeo.com launches with the ability to order bound documents as late as 10PM EST and for your order to be delivered as early as the next morning at 8am. A huge shift in the printing industry.

    Inc. Magazine recognizes Mimeo as one of the fastest growing companies in the US, ranked at number 186. This is the first of 9 times Mimeo is recognized by Inc. magazine as part of the Inc 5000 fastest growing companies.

    Mimeo launches MarketPlace, putting brand-customization in the hands of customers.

    Expanding Across The Pond
    Mimeo acquires CLE Print in Cambridgeshire, UK to increase reach into Europe and enter the educational printing and funeral stationery markets. Mimeo acquires of CLE in Cambridgeshire, England including the School Planner Company and Gateway (UK) and SPC Verlag (trading in Germany).

    Mimeo relocates its headquarters to Memphis, TN, and brings 300 new jobs to the area.

Sustainability

We’re at a point in time that people in the future will point back to and remember who did something to make a difference. We want to be on the right side of history, so we’re implementing an aggressive sustainability program. Printing has traditionally been bad for the environment. We’re taking steps to change that for our customers. Recycled paper, supply chain efficiencies, minimal packaging, tree planting initiatives, and our “no junk promos” commitment are just a few ways we’re moving the needle. Print better means better for you, but it also means better for the environment. All three of our core lines of business are auditing their operations, laying out a sustainability plan, and executing. We’re still committed to being the most reliable printer in the world, just more sustainably.
