Creating a PDF Form: Data Directed to Your Email (Mimeo Digital)

One great way to capture whether your end-users have interacted with your content is by embedding a PDF form into your document.

Here's how to create your PDF form so that the submitted data goes directly to an email address

Create your PDF form as you normally would. Add in as many form fields as you need.

(All field names are case-sensitive)

Add a "Submit" Button to your form (required)

This field is required for Mimeo Digital.

  1.  Add a “Button” to your form
  2. Edit the button properties and on the “Action” tab set the “Select Action” field to “Submit a Form."
  3. Click the “Add” button and enter the URL “/v1/api/pdfform”.
  4. Set the “Export Format” to “HTML”.

Add an Email Addresses field (required)

This field is required for Mimeo Digital

  1. Add a “Text Field” to your form.
  2. On the “General” tab set the “Name” to “DigitalEmailRecipients”.
  3. On the “General” tab under “Common Properties," set the “Form Field” value to “Hidden”.
  4. On the “Options” tab set the default value field to the email address you want the data sent to. For multiple email address, separate the emails with a comma (email1@domain.com,email2@domain.com,email3@domain.com)

Add an Email Subject field (optional)

If you don’t add this field to your form, the email subject will be blank.

  1. Add a “Text Field” to your form:
  2. On the “General” tab set the “Name” to “DigitalEmailSubject”.
  3. On the “General” tab under “Common Properties," set the “Form Field” value to “Hidden."
  4. On the “Options” tab set the default value field to the desired email subject.

Add an Email Header field (optional)

If you don’t add this field to your form, there will be no header text in your email.

  1. Add a “Text Field” to your form:
  2. On the “General” tab set the “Name” to “DigitalEmailHeader”.
  3. On the “General” tab under “Common Properties," set the “Form Field” value to “Hidden."
  4. On the “Options” tab set the default value field to the desired email header.

If you don’t add this field to your form, there will be no footer text in your email.

  1. Add a “Text Field” to your form:
  2. On the “General” tab set the “Name” to “DigitalEmailFooter”.
  3. On the “General” tab under “Common Properties," set the “Form Field” value to “Hidden." 
  4. On the “Options” tab set the default value field to the desired email footer.

Add a Submission Success Message Field (optional)

If you don’t add this field to your form, the default value “Thank You” will be used.

  1. Add a “Text Field” to your form:
  2. On the “General” tab set the “Name” to “DigitalEmailSuccessMsg”.
  3. On the “General” tab under “Common Properties," set the “Form Field” value to “Hidden."
  4. On the “Options” tab set the default value field to the desired form submission success message.

 

Thats it! Once you are finished, save the file and upload it into your Mimeo Digital Admin library.
